Needed:

The carport lights should turn on after sunset, before dark and off after dawn, before sunrise. Sunset and sunrise shift about a minute a day for six weeks before and after the equinoxes. From Groundhog's Day to May Day, and from the first of August to Halloween, reset the timer every two weeks to keep the on/off times at twilight. The timer may stay at the same setting for six weeks before and after the solstices.

Step-By-Step Instructions

The light control box (timer) is on a post at the south end of the east carport. Unbolt the panel. Be careful not to drop the bolts into the mulch. Set the bolts inside the control box while you work. If it is necessary to replace the bolts, they are 3/8” 10/32 machine bolts.

The screen shows the weekday and time, either OFF or ON, and AUTO. Buttons say MODE, ENTER, OVERRIDE, and DAY, HOUR, and MINUTE.

Press MODE. You may change the setting to manual control if the lights must stay off or on all the time.

Press MODE again. The display says CLK. Reset the current time if necessary. To save the change, press ENTER.

Press MODE a third time. The display says SCH. Adjust the ON time (p.m.) with the HOUR and MINUTE buttons, and press ENTER to save the change. Adjust the OFF time (a.m.) and press ENTER.

During the spring, ON is 20 minutes after sunset. OFF is 20 minutes before sunrise. During the fall, ON is at sunset and OFF is at sunrise.

Press MODE a fourth time to leave programming mode.

If it is already past the time the lights should have come on or turned off, press OVERRIDE to change them manually.

Replace the cover. Tighten the bolts just until snug, not tight, since the cover must be taken off regularly.
