Discussion - participation

Management Committee is concerned about the lack of work participation on the part of some members in the community. Further, management believes that many members of the community are similarly concerned and that this issue is of urgent importance to the community. Brian presented some ideas around a restructuring of the committee structure designed to allow people to do more of the work they like and some ideas about work participation and consequences for not participation. Out of this discussion came a number of ideas -

the community needs to define "work" we need to agree that the community has the right to expect work participation by every member we need to discuss the ways to encourage people to help with community work we need to discuss enforcement mechanisms that can be used by the community when a member does not participate in work

Toward this end, Management is requesting that every member attend and be prepared to discuss participation at our NEXT ACM, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22 AT 7:00pm IN THE COMMON HOUSE.

Brian will facilitate the meeting and Vaughn will lead the discussion about participation. Please come prepared to discuss the following issues (and possibly others)

how can we encourage people to do more work around the community? what do we believe the comitment to the community (in terms of work) should be what should we do if someone does not participate

This promises to be a difficult issue, and we would really hope to not take 6 months to get to the point of writing a proposal. Please come prepared with very concrete ideas to facilitate moving the discussion forward.
